I haven’t seen one of these for a long time. There’s a mock-up of a WWII-era cottage at the Oak Ridge (TN) museum that reminds us who grew up in the cusp of that war how our parents and grandparents lived. Those banners, blue and some gold, were hung in almost every window.

Plenty of these in Norfolk, San Diego, and now Omaha. I’ve only seen blue ones displayed so far, thankfully. Congratulations on raising a son who is doing something greater than himself, and I’ll keep him and you all in my thoughts as we proceed on to deployment.

Good Luck on your tour, and Thank You for Serving! Lance Corporal. You and the rest of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children will remain in my thoughts as long as any of you are there. God Bless!

Donald,
My son, Matthew, is with the 4th AABN and relieved your son’s group at Al Qaim. I have a blue star flag on the front door of the house just like I did the last time he was there. We talked to him this past weekend and he was little shaken after the amtrak blew up. His track was about 50 meters away and one the road wheels flew over his head. Semper Fi and God Bless to our sons!

Our oldest son, Daniel - 21, is at Camp Striker, Baghdad. He has been in the Georgia Army National Guard as an MP since he was 17 1/2, about 3 weeks before Sept. 11. He was called up from Georgia Military College where he majored in Criminal Justice (has earned his A.A. so far) preparing for a career like his Dad’s [except Dad is a PA]. HOO-AH! Praying for you and yours.
We have a single star flying in our front window; we retired the 2 star version when Dad retired in Jan.’05 from 32 1/2 yrs. active Army duty. I’m a vet too.
Any idea where I could get a graphic of the blue star to post on Daniel’s blogspot? Thanks.

aardvark, thank you all for your service to our country! FGor a graphic
of the star, just search Google or save and use my image if you wish (you’ll
have to edit out Stephen’s name, of course).

May God keep your son safe.
Thank you for raising such a wonderful son and thanks to him for his service to our country.

If you can send me his address, I will write Stephen during his deployment. I know how important letters can be!

I know that if there was the internet when I served in the USAF, my Dad would have done the same! It is very special to have a Dad, well, your whole family, behind you.
The act of defending those who cannot is the greatest unselfish act. Those who understand God and Country know this all too well.
God shall always watch over your son, and those with which your son serves and protects.
And thank you, Stephen’s Dad, for being just as unselfish and letting your son defend us all here back at home. God Bless you and your family.

Your son is a hero. I really wish I could serve my country, but the Marine Corps would not accept me because I have a criminal history which came about because of my alcohol problem (I have now dealt with it — 5 years sober). I pray for all Marine’s parents, that they may have courage and for the Marines that they remain strong and green.
Semper Fidelis!

Richard-father of LCpl. Karl Linn, KIA 1/26/05,
Thank YOU for posting your own Thanks to the Sensings. Your family’s sacrifice, and courage therein, is humbling to those of us who have not experienced a loss like yours, yet we enjoy the same freedoms all the same, thanks to sacrifices such as yours. May God be with you and your family always.
Sensings - Thank you both for your service and hardships. May God watch over you all and those around you.

Our son Joey is up in Tall’Afar with the 3d ACR, we’ve had a Blue Star Flag flying since he deployed last March. My respects and thanks to your son for his service. May he return to you healthy and strong.
