Linkagery
Stuff I would write about if I had the time:

  • Where are all the moderate Muslims, you may ask. Well, a good number of them are right here in America in the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism.
We believe in the re-interpretation of Islam for the 21st century where terrorism is not justified under any circumstances.

We believe in the separation of religion and state.

We believe that democracy is the best form of government.

We believe in the promotion of secularism in all forms of political activity.

We believe that equality for women is an inalienable right.

We believe that religion is a personal relationship between the individual and his or her God and is not to be forced on anyone.
Anyone can join, not just Muslims.

  • James Joyner Steve Verdon writes on James Joyner's site about "Bad Science Reporting" as related to teaching the theory of evolution and the "theory" of intelligent design. I'm on James's side here. I happen to believe in intelligent design, but James is right, ID is not a theory as far as I can tell, at least, not a scientific one.

See also my 2002 essay on Evolution and Creationism (link is now fixed). More about this later (I hope); in the meantime see the November 2004 issue of National Geographic (not online). It has an excellent and comprehensible explanation of what evolution theory is and why it best accounts for the empirical data - and yes, it has been used to make predictions of discoveries that were later confirmed (in the case discussed, confirmed by a researcher who had predicted something else entirely).

  • J. Hagglund thinks that the liberal domination of American campuses is not as great as George Will made it out to be.

  • James Joyner Steve Verdon again, discussing the effect of eliminating home mortgage deductions in a flat income-tax system. I explored this at some length, too, awhile back. My conclusion: away with it!
