Linkagery
Been gone all day. Here's some pages to browse:

  • Gerard Van der Leun offers reflections on a Russian Pieta from the Beslan massacre.

  • Joe Gandelman takes a synoptic look at some of the commentary on Beslan.

  • Al Arabiya's general manager has a news flash: "All the World Terrorists are Muslims!" No hock, Sherlock.

  • The Beslan Massacre has shocked even the clerics of the C of E. Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams even used the E-word to describe the murders and then he really got mad and called for surviving terrorists to be imprisoned for life.

He also said that the massacre "had tested even his faith." Why, pray tell, Christian Archbishop, does the evil of Muslim terrorists test your faith? Just wondering.

<disgust> I also note that he also used "evil" only in reference to the deeds. I suppose it would have been intolerant to describe the terrorists as evil.</disgust>

  • More on how he just won't have it!

  • Citizen Smash offers a Cliff Notes version of the Bush Doctrine.

  • Could a Beslan-type massacre happen here? The threat must be considered. Dave Kopel says that teachers should be packing heat. My comment: there were 30 heavily armed, ruthless terrorists in Beslan, darn near a platoon. I don't think a handful of untrained teachers, lacking killer instincts or reflexes or killer weapons, will do much good here. But I don't have a better idea, darn it.
